Olive recommended me these batteries, I bought for my 2 cradles and so far they are working just fine. They look almost exactly the same as the cradle came with.

Were the connectors the same as the OEM Olive connectors? That's great if they were, really easy fix.

That said, don't forget that the original problem has not gone away. There is no fail safe in the Olive software to stop the batteries from completely discharging. If you discharge your new batteries, they will have to be changed again. After I changed my batteries, I was able to use my Olives a couple of times, but I was negligent and didn't pay attention. So my batteries died again.

I have already purchased one of these and the connectors are not the same. I spliced in, since Olive said that it was a "long delivery" problem that caused the battery drain. So, I drained this battery and have not re-purchased because I was waiting for someone to say that the things work before trying it again.

I have read of the other problems, and they are problematic to keep it in my ear but willing to try them in the house. However, not sure it is worth the effort again till more is learned.

    Is anyone satisfied with performance?

Rolland, this connector has 2 pins compare to the OU which has 4 but I can easily remove the pins and put it on the OU connector.
I been away from this page that I didn't knew the problem was a software issue and not hardware and now that sucks because that 20 dollars could go down the drain.

Here is my solution for keeping the Olive in my ear. I use the ear tip supplied, then add an additional piece supplied with ear buds I recently purchased. The additional piece holds the Olive a bit further inside the ear canal. To keep everything from being jarred loose in the course of day-to-day activities I purchased ear hangers made for bluetooth headsets. They are only about $5 US for a 10 pack on Amazon, shipping included. Once everything is in place (It takes a bit of fussing to get all the pieces aligned just right) I can finally forget I'm wearing the Olive. Hearing seems to be noticably improved for the frequencies with which I have difficulty. One drawback for me, (a 60-something) is that I don't naturally keep my smartphone constantly at my side, so the connection is dropped frequently. I think this first generation Olive is a good start, but I'm sure most will agree there's room for improvement. I naively assumed that after programming I could simply turn the Olive on, put it in my ear, and forget it. That should be the goal, but I guess it will take a while to get there.

I'm not sure what I just did but it worked for me also. I used a stanly knife I had floating around the house. Jim Arkless, I agree it is a bit naughty.

Dear Waterman.  I need this workaround too.  Please give me a link for finding those pieces.  In Amazon I couldn't find them.

    Thx, Max

    Massimo,

This should be the link for the ear hangers:  https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B7BETUS/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

In case the link doesn't work, search Amazon.com under cell phones & accessories > accessories > bluetooth headsets. Also, try searching earbuds accessories. There are several different shapes and styles. Most are not expensive, so it doesn't hurt to experiment. Good luck!

    @George Sjoberg & @OLIVE UNION & others

With many Indiegogo BACKERS paying US$120.00 and US$194 per backer  and over $600,000 raised Olive Union's reason for not shipping various sizes of ear tips is very disconcerting.

According to Olive Union:  “We are barely making ends meet.  So it was not financially viable to send out additional ear tips....”

Various size ear tips are not optional they are essential even for beta testing.  Tester already have to fiddle with alteration just to make the Olive stay in the ear! I already had to order mine online from a different vendor. OLIVE UNION ship these essential ear tips ASAP.  Thank you.

Just received a battery from Amazon instead of cutting the resistor, so hopefully will have time to install it sometime this week.

Larry, look through the thread because you still might have to cut the resistor even though you got a new battery. Can anyone direct Larry on what is needed for sure?

@jtd, Erick Uceda posted 7 days ago that this battery was working in both of his cradles, and gave us the link to buy it. I hadn't been back to see that the new ones can also be "over-discharged" and go bad too.

So, I'll either splice this battery in and be careful to always keep the charger battery topped off, or I'll do the resistor cut and when I'm not near a normal USB charger I'll use an external power pack to charge the Olive in it's cradle.

OK. I've got my unit charging. When are the replacement units coming out so I can charge on the go?

Got my specs out, my cutter and did it finally. It works now very well, charged and works, paired to the app. Great. This was after trying the soldering new battery with no succes...

Thanks for the support you all are giving.
