We want to help you connect your Olive to your mobile device.
Please post comments with your iPhone model, iOS version and screenshots of the error messages. The engineering team will monitor this thread continuously.
This tutorial shows how to use your Olive with iPhone (iOS). It includes signing up, pairing, re-connecting and trouble-shooting the Olive Union App. We were made aware of some bugs regarding the sliders on the App, we have uploaded an update to the App store. It should be available soon, it is going through the lengthy approval process. Please allow around a minute for all the pictures/GIFs to load completely.
Signing up in the Olive Union App:
Signing up for the Olive Union App is the only time when internet connection is essential for the App to operate correctly. If you receive a 'Network Request Failed' it means there is no active Internet connection. We are aware of an issue where a mobile network might get treated as no internet connection; we have included a fix in the upcoming update. Meanwhile, please use a Wi-Fi connection.
Pairing an Olive with an iPhone for the first time:
Step 1.1. Reset the Olive back to its factory state (this action erases the Olive memory, including the previously paired devices and EQ settings): First turn the Olive on by pressing the button for 2 seconds. Once the LED turns on once, release the button.
Step 1.2. Next, hold the button for 6 seconds, the Olive will flash 4 times. The Olive will reset and turn off.
Step 2. Start pairing mode in the Olive. With the Olive off. Press and hold the button for 4 seconds. The Olive LED should start flashing to indicate the Olive is now discoverable.
Step 3. Connect the Olive to your iPhone using settings. iPhone users must first pair the Olive to their iPhone, then link it using the Olive App.
The Olive will stop flashing when pairing is completed.
Step 3. Please note the following 2 items while pairing:
Note 3.1: On a successful pair, the 'Headphones' icon will be shown in the upper-right hand corner. If the icon does not appear, delete the Olive from the iPhone Bluetooth Devices list and restart the procedure described here.
Note 3.2: The following dialog is key to the Olive Bluetooth functionality on iPhone. Please be sure to press Pair
Reconnecting to Olive after power off/charging.
The Olive will remain pair to your iPhone, but after power off or charging, it will disconnect to preserve its battery. The following shows how to connect an Olive, which has already been paired and is powered ON: Add Your Device → My Olive R → Home
Q: My Olive won't stream music.
A: The iPhone separates the Olive into two different devices in the Bluetooth Settings. Although the the part responsible for Olive Control might be connected, the part responsible for Olive Music Streaming might not, simply find the other part with the same name and connect to it. See below:
We hope this clarifies the pairing process with iPhones. Please help us isolate the problem with your smartphone by commenting with screenshots of the error messages.
Thank you for your support.
