We have been getting a lot of tickets about problems while pairing with Android smartphones. We thought a tutorial might help with some of the basic issues. We have also been made aware that in some cases the App crashes, or the Olive simply doesn't show in the Bluetooth system menu or ask for a pairing pin. We have identified these issues as being device-specific and we are reviewing the crash reports. We have just uploaded a new version to Google Play attempting to correct those bugs. Please update to the latest version.
Pairing an Olive with an Android smartphone for the first time.
Step 1.1. Reset the Olive back to its factory state (this action erases the Olive memory, including the previously paired devices and EQ settings): First, turn on the Olive by pressing the button for 2 seconds. Once the LED turns on once, release the button.
Step 1.2. Next, hold the button for 6 seconds, the Olive will flash 4 times. The Olive will reset and turn off.
The Olive will stop flashing when pairing is completed.
Step 3. Connect the already paired Olive to the its App.
The Olive will remain connected to your phone until its turn off or put in its dock. To reconnect the Olive back afterwards, please follow these steps:
Reconnecting to Olive after power off/charging.
The Olive will remain pair to your smartphone after power off or charging, but It will disconnect to preserve its battery. This Android smartphone shows this when the Olive is paired, but not connected:
